Poyel
“God who sustains the universe”

In short
Who is the angel Poyel?
Poyel is the 56th angel of the Shem HaMephorash, in the choir of Principalities under Archangel Haniel. Regent of 5° to 10° Capricorn (December 25–29), he is the great bestower of fortune, deserved renown, and abundance. The kabbalistic tradition presents him as the one who fosters humility in greatness and who helps obtain what is sincerely desired, provided that desire is aligned with the common good.
✡ Tradition and symbolism
Poyel is the fifty-sixth angel of the Shem HaMephorash, that sacred Name of seventy-two letters drawn from the three strophes of Exodus (14:19–21), the cornerstone of kabbalistic angelology. Inscribed in the choir of Principalities under the direction of Archangel Haniel — regent of Venus and of the harmonizing principle in creation — he reigns over 5° to 10° of Capricorn, days that span the Christmas period in the northern hemisphere: a time of giving, of gathering around what matters, and of hope renewed in the depths of winter. He is the last Capricorn angel of his choir before the hierarchy passes to the Archangels.
In the treatises of Ambelain and Haziel, Poyel is unanimously associated with fortune, glory, and the flowering of natural talent. He is reputed to grant men and women the gifts that allow them to shine brilliantly in their particular domain while maintaining an inner attitude of service toward others. The tradition's insistence on modesty as one of his cardinal virtues is deliberate and significant: Poyel teaches that true greatness is recognized by its quiet discretion, not by its noise. He is also linked to what might be called a fortunate star — those happy coincidences that seem to arise precisely when most needed, and to the capacity to draw genuine benefit from resources accumulated through sustained and patient labor.
To meditate with Poyel is to explore honestly the boundary between personal desire and collective service, between ambition that serves and ambition that consumes. The Earth element of Capricorn grounds his gifts firmly in pragmatism: the path to abundance is not daydreaming but the careful cultivation of real conditions — competence built over time, perseverance through discouragement, humility before what one has yet to learn. His light poses the foundational question: 'Does my desire to succeed serve something that reaches beyond myself?' When the answer is truly yes and action follows, Poyel is said to open the doors.
📜 Traditional invocation verse
Tradition associates Poyel with Psalm 145:15, recited or meditated upon during invocation.
