Nithael

Nithael is the 54th and final angel of the choir of Principalities in the Shem HaMephorash, the divine Name of 72 angelic names that Christian Kabbalistic tradition — carried by Ambelain and Haziel — extracts from three verses of Exodus 14:19-21. He presides over 25°–30° of Sagittarius, the final sector of this fire sign, a position that marks the end of the sixth choir and the imminence of transition toward the Archangels. Haniel, prince of the Principalities, reigns over the divine grace dispensed to collective works and meaning-bearing structures. As the last angel of this choir, Nithael carries the symbolic weight of completion: he is the angel who crowns, validates, and consecrates what has matured.

In the Kabbalistic tradition, Nithael is the angel of celestial royalty and the legitimacy of enduring commitments. He is invoked to lay foundations for what aspires to cross time — an institution, a family tradition, an artistic or spiritual work — by anchoring them in values that do not depend on passing fashions. He is credited with protecting those who exercise authority with justice and making deserved recognition radiate where it has been slow to arrive. His influence also covers divine mercy understood as constancy: God as king who does not waver. The tradition also associates him with the protection of spiritual heritages transmitted from generation to generation.

To close the choir of Principalities with Nithael is to meditate on the notion of legacy. What is one building that one hopes will outlast one's own life? What is one transmitting that carries further than one's own steps? Nithael reminds us that true endurance does not come from the will to impose, but from the quality of integrity with which a work is conducted — for it is this integrity alone that time ultimately consecrates. His presence invites releasing the need for immediate recognition and trusting in work well done.

Nithael, king of heavens who crowns the just, strengthen within me what deserves to endure — let my works be founded not on the desire to please, but on the solidity of what is true.

How to pray to Nithael according to tradition

2. Meditate on its name, preferably during its regency period (December 15 – 19).
3. State an intention related to its domains: endurance, legitimacy, recognition, legacy, stability.
