The Shem HaMephorash is a divine name composed of 72 groups of three Hebrew letters, drawn from verses 19, 20, and 21 of chapter 14 of Exodus. Each triplet, combined with the suffixes « El » or « Yah », forms the name of an angel whose vibration is said to reflect a particular facet of the Divine. Lauviah is the eleventh of these sacred names. He belongs to the choir of Cherubim, presided over by Raziel, the archangel who guards the Book of Celestial Secrets. The Cherubim are guardians of higher Knowledge, and their action consists in transmitting to humans the illuminations they need to progress on the path of consciousness. This Lauviah — distinct from the second of the same name, the seventeenth angel belonging to the Thrones — operates primarily on the register of intuitive and oneiric revelation, grounded in the Earth element of Taurus.

The kabbalistic tradition attributes to Lauviah (no. 11) the presiding over revealing dreams, nocturnal perceptions, and inspirations that arise at the threshold of sleep. He favors scientific discoveries born of lightning intuition, the understanding of phenomena difficult to grasp by reason alone, and the reception of symbolic messages in the dream state. Within the Earth element of Taurus, these illuminations take root in concrete and lasting realizations rather than remaining mere fleeting visions. Lauviah also protects against discouragement by illuminating the way when the mind doubts, and he supports those who must hold their course in the face of others' incomprehension.

To open oneself to Lauviah in meditation is to set an intention before sleeping: that the night becomes a space of revelation rather than mere rest. The images that emerge upon waking, the intuitions that arise in a moment of silence, the unexpected connections between apparently unrelated ideas — it is through these subtle channels that this angel transmits his teachings. His presence invites trust in what the intellect alone cannot grasp, encourages the keeping of a dream journal, and honors the symbolic intelligence of the inner world as a source of knowledge in its own right.

Prayer to the angel Lauviah

Traditional prayer to Lauviah, to recite or meditate on during its regency period (May 11 – 15):

Lauviah, guardian of nocturnal thresholds, illuminate my dreams with your admirable light. May hidden truths reach me in the silence of sleep, that I may recognize them upon waking.

How to pray to Lauviah according to tradition

1. Recite its invocation verse, Psalm 18:47.
2. Meditate on its name, preferably during its regency period (May 11 – 15).
3. State an intention related to its domains: prophetic dreams, inspiration, revelation, intuition, discovery.

These practices belong to the spiritual and symbolic framework of the kabbalistic tradition.
