Hariel

✡ Tradition and symbolism

The kabbalistic tradition of the 72 angels draws its source from verses 19, 20, and 21 of the fourteenth chapter of Exodus, three Hebrew lines of seventy-two letters each, whose boustrophedon reading — one line in the normal direction, the next in reverse — produces 72 trigrams, the foundation of the Shem HaMephorash. Hariel is the fifteenth of these trigrams, bearing within him the resonance of the divine name under the aspect of « Creator ». He belongs to the Cherubim, the choir placed under the authority of Raziel, archangel of Revelation and the hidden mysteries of Creation. By his position at the heart of Gemini, an Air sign governed by Mercury, Hariel unites creativity and rationality, artistic impulse and scientific rigor.

Hariel is particularly invoked in fields of knowledge and creation oriented toward the common good. Tradition attributes to him the power to purify sciences from deviant uses — those that serve ego or profit without regard for the collective — and to orient the arts toward an authentically spiritual expression. He is also the angel who helps overcome dependencies, whether physical, emotional, or behavioral, by strengthening deep willpower and revealing the unconscious mechanisms that fuel these compulsions. His airy nature makes him a master of mental clarity, intellectual discipline, and coherence between professed values and actual acts.

Hariel calls us to examine honestly the way we use our talents. Do they serve something greater than ourselves, or do they only feed an illusion of mastery? In meditation, this angel invites us to purify creative intentions in depth: not to suppress the desire to create, but to cleanse it of ego motivations — seeking validation, fear of judgment — so that it becomes a genuine act of offering. His presence brings rigor without rigidity, discipline without self-punishment.
