Rochel

Rochel is the sixty-ninth angel of the Shem HaMephorash, born like all 72 names from the boustrophedon reading of three Hebrew verses of Exodus 14:19–21. He belongs to the ultimate choir of Angels, under the archangel Gabriel, and governs 10° to 15° of Pisces, from March 1 to 5 — at the heart of a water sign where the boundaries between worlds grow thin and buried truths naturally rise back to the surface. His name, meaning 'the all-seeing God,' establishes him as a witness to everything that exists, was, or has been hidden — a cosmic memory from which nothing escapes.

Tradition attributes to him the gift of finding what is lost: Rochel is the angel of restitution. Whether it concerns a misplaced object, an interrupted relationship, a stolen right, or a wounded dignity, Rochel intercedes so that each thing may return to its proper place. Haziel and Ambelain emphasize his patronage of lawyers, magistrates, and all who seek to make truth prevail in conflicts. His attribute of 'the all-seeing God' means that truth cannot remain buried indefinitely: it always rises back to the surface under his gaze. He is also invoked in situations where the memory of an old wrong weighs upon the present, so that recognition may finally arrive and reparation become possible. Some sources associate him with the uncovering of hidden legacies and the clarification of inheritances long disputed.

In meditation, Rochel invites us to consider that nothing truly experienced is ever entirely lost. Buried experiences, parts of the self set aside, bonds broken by life's vicissitudes — all of it persists somewhere in the fabric of time, held in the all-seeing awareness he embodies. To contemplate Rochel is to trust in the process of restitution: what must return, returns; what belongs to the light will ultimately be restored to it. He asks only that one make oneself available to receive what comes back — without conditions, without filtering its form — and with the patience of someone who knows that the universe keeps perfect accounts.

Prayer to the angel Rochel

Traditional prayer to Rochel, to recite or meditate on during its regency period (March 1 – 5):

"Rochel, eye that sees all, guide toward me what belongs to me and restore each thing to the place due to it in the order of the world."

How to pray to Rochel according to tradition

1. Recite its invocation verse, Psalm 16:5.
2. Meditate on its name, preferably during its regency period (March 1 – 5).
3. State an intention related to its domains: restitution, justice, what is lost, legal clarity, revealed truth.

These practices belong to the spiritual and symbolic framework of the kabbalistic tradition.
