Jabamiah
“Creating Word, God whose word creates”

In short
Who is the angel Jabamiah?
Jabamiah (no. 70) belongs to the choir of Angels under the archangel Gabriel. Angel of the creative Word, he presides over the generative power of divine speech and the regeneration of beings. He accompanies inner alchemical processes, the transmutation of raw matter into light, and supports those working to regenerate — themselves, a project, or those around them — after a period of dissolution.
✡ Tradition and symbolism
Jabamiah occupies the seventieth position among the 72 angels of the Shem HaMephorash. Belonging to the final celestial choir of Angels, governed by the archangel Gabriel, he reigns over 15° to 20° of Pisces, from March 6 to 10. This zodiacal position, in the median degrees of a deep water sign, underscores his vocation to preside over processes of integration and rebirth — not the beginning of dissolution nor its end, but the very heart of transmutation, where the old has fully surrendered and the new has not yet declared itself.
The Christian Kabbalistic tradition makes Jabamiah an angel of the creative power of the Word — in the Johannine sense, the logos through which 'all things were made.' He is the angel invoked at great new beginnings: after illness, separation, failure, or a period of emptiness. Ambelain and Haziel describe him as a master of regeneration, capable of helping beings rebuild on foundations more solid than those that gave way. Spiritual alchemists, therapists, and all who accompany others in their rebirth place themselves under his sign. He is also linked to hermetic philosophy and the understanding of death as a necessary stage for new life — not an absolute end, but an alchemical passage from the nigredo toward the albedo. The hermetic axiom 'solve et coagula' could be said to live under his patronage: to dissolve in order to recompose.
In meditation, Jabamiah is the voice that names things anew. If the Word is the principle by which chaos becomes cosmos, then to invoke Jabamiah is to ask that something formless within oneself be spoken, named, given order. He suggests that every rebirth begins with an inner word — an intention formulated with clarity, a promise made to oneself in silence — and that this word, spoken with enough conviction, carries within it the whole seed of the new form. Nothing new can emerge until the right name for it has been found.
📜 Traditional invocation verse
Tradition associates Jabamiah with Psalm 2:7, recited or meditated upon during invocation.
Meditation
"Jabamiah, living Word, speak within me the word that creates — let what was dissolution become the foundation of renewed life."
