Menadel (מנד + El) is the 36th name of the Shem HaMephorash, arising from the trigram-reading of three Hebrew verses of 72 letters each from Exodus 14:19-21. The French tradition — Haziel, Ambelain — renders it as 'God adorable and praised,' inviting a relationship of gratitude and adoration toward the divine. He belongs to the choir of Powers, sixth angelic order according to the Pseudo-Dionysian hierarchy, under the governance of archangel Camael, prince of strength and justice. The Powers watch over the equilibrium between opposing forces and protect souls against influences that lead them from their path.

Menadel is associated with daily work experienced as sacred service. He helps those seeking their calling to discern it and devote themselves to it with constancy. He is also reputed as protector of those distanced from their native land, their loved ones or their community — voluntary or forced exiles — guiding them toward new anchorage or facilitating return to where the heart has remained. Tradition attributes to him the capacity to find lost persons or goods, and to free those unjustly detained.

To meditate on Menadel is to pose the question of authentic service: does my work nourish something greater than myself? His position at the last degrees of earth Virgo makes him a bridge toward Libra — the sign of relation — as if Menadel were inviting a closing of the cycle of solitary analysis to open toward the other. The number 36 is also, in Hebrew tradition, the count of the Lamed-Vav Tzaddikim, the 36 hidden righteous upon whom the world rests: a symbolic echo reminding us that the humble and silent work of each person holds a part of the common fabric. For the exile or the wanderer, his name offers a specific consolation: home is not only a place but a quality of presence, and anchorage can be found wherever the soul commits fully to its craft. In this, Menadel teaches that belonging is never merely received — it is built, day after day, through the faithful repetition of meaningful acts.
