Lehahiah

The name Lehahiah (להה + El) is the 34th of the 72 trigrams of the Shem HaMephorash, drawn from verses 19, 20 and 21 of Exodus chapter 14 according to the method of three lines written in boustrophedon. Ambelain and Haziel render it as 'God clement and merciful,' underlining that divine clemency is not weakness but a strength that knows where to place its trust. Lehahiah belongs to the choir of Powers, sixth rank in the Pseudo-Dionysian hierarchy of Christian Kabbalah, under the governance of Camael, archangel of rightful strength and martial discipline. The Powers are called to harmonise tensions between contrary forces and maintain the order of great structures.

Lehahiah's traditional attributions revolve around enlightened obedience and peace in hierarchical relations. He is invoked to soothe conflicts within institutions, families or groups, to favour reconciliation between superiors and subordinates and to help accept a necessary discipline without sterile revolt. Tradition also attributes to him the protection of sovereigns, leaders and those who exercise their authority with justice — ensuring they are not betrayed by those close to them. He helps distinguish free and fertile obedience from alienating submission.

To meditate on Lehahiah is to question one's relationship to authority in all its forms: external (institutions, laws, hierarchies) but also internal (the principles one chooses to serve). His Virgoan earth vibration invites pragmatism: which structure, which framework allows me to grow? The tradition of the Shem HaMephorash sees in him a mediator between the rigour of order and the warmth of clemency — recalling that every true authority carries within it the capacity to bend without breaking.
