Chavakhiah (חוק + El, or variant חבק) is the 35th name of the Shem HaMephorash. In the French tradition — Ambelain, Haziel — it is rendered as 'God who gives joy,' pointing toward a joy not superficial but deep, the kind born of reconciliation and rediscovered peace. It belongs to the choir of Powers, sixth hierarchy of the Pseudo-Dionysian angelic cosmology adopted by Christian Kabbalah, under the direction of Camael, archangel of rightful strength. The Powers govern the forces that organise relations between beings, ensuring that conflicts resolve according to justice and that discord does not become permanent.

Chavakhiah's domains are those of the family circle and the transmission of goods: he is the angel of well-divided inheritances, respected wills, reconciliations between siblings, and family quarrels soothed before they degenerate into permanent ruptures. Tradition attributes to him the capacity to re-tie damaged emotional bonds, to restore to a family or close group its sense of common belonging. He fosters sincerity in delicate exchanges and the courage to ask for or grant forgiveness.

To contemplate Chavakhiah is to remember that the most robust joy is the one built on the repair of bonds, not their avoidance. His position in earth Virgo — sign of discernment and service — recalls that genuine reconciliation demands concrete work: naming what was wounded, listening to what was silenced, finding the fair distribution. His name, according to the tradition of the Shem HaMephorash, is a key for untying what was knotted too tight by fear or pride. The joy he promises is not the euphoria of a momentary truce but the durable warmth of restored trust — a warmth that, once relit, can sustain the whole household through the long winters that every family, sooner or later, must face. In this sense, Chavakhiah is also the guardian of memory: the one who preserves the living thread linking generations so that what was built by ancestors is not squandered by the quarrels of their heirs.
