Aniel is the 37th sacred name of the Shem HaMephorash, the cycle of 72 angels drawn from the three Hebrew verses of Exodus 14:19-21, each 72 letters long, interwoven by the boustrophedon method. He belongs to the choir of Powers (Dynameis), a median hierarchy that receives influxes from the higher spheres and distributes them into manifest creation. His directing prince is Camael, angel of strength and transformative will. Aniel governs the first degrees of Libra, a cardinal air sign that inaugurates the balance between the individual and the outer world — the moment of the autumnal equinox where light and shadow stand as equals.

Tradition attributes to him the power to break repetitive patterns that encrust the soul — old fears, mental automatisms, emotional dependencies made invisible by habit. He is the angel of deep meditation and occult sciences, the one who opens inner doors locked by routine and fear of change. He is invoked to develop contemplation, access higher knowledge, teach with clarity, and transmute lived experience into universal understanding. Christian Kabbalah also presents him as a protector of those who work in the transmission of esoteric knowledge — researchers, teachers, and keepers of traditions.
