Yerathel

Yerathel is the twenty-seventh of the seventy-two angelic names of the Shem HaMephorash, a system founded on the boustrophedon trigrammatic reading of Exodus 14:19-21. This angelic corpus is mentioned in the earliest medieval kabbalistic treatises and was developed by Renaissance Christian Kabbalah, then by Ambelain in the twentieth century. Yerathel belongs to the choir of Dominions, the median hierarchy placed under archangel Tsadkiel — 'Justice of God', the Jupiterian prince of expansion, benevolent law, and governing wisdom. Yerathel rules 10° to 15° of Leo, the ardent and central heart of leonine solar fire, degrees of a naturally radiant and communicative power, oriented toward diffusion and sharing.

The Christian kabbalistic tradition confers on him a dual complementary function: actively protecting those who disseminate knowledge, wisdom, and justice in the world, and symbolically confounding those who oppose this through malice, jealousy, or self-interest. Ambelain describes him precisely as the angel who 'confounds calumniators' and sustains the propagation of Enlightenment in the broadest sense — rigorous science, living philosophy, authentic spiritual wisdom. Those under his protection are naturally and deeply drawn to teaching in all its forms, writing, the communication of essential ideas, and all that contributes to the collective elevation of human consciousness. He also fosters lasting peace between peoples through the path of true dialogue, mutual recognition, and respect for differences.

In meditation, Yerathel burns like a sun of solar and leonine justice that refuses to be eclipsed by the clouds of ignorance or fear. His Leo-Fire frequency is that of sovereign intellectual courage: the capacity to name truth even when it disturbs established interests, to maintain the flame of knowledge even in the most hostile contexts. He reminds us that every living civilization is a precious flame tended by courageous and disinterested hands, and that every word of truth spoken in the world extends this sacred and inextinguishable fire.

Yerathel, sun of justice that refuses to be eclipsed, strengthen in me the courage to spread light even where it disturbs. May your leonine flame consume obscurantism and protect the bearers of truth.

How to pray to Yerathel according to tradition

1. Recite its invocation verse, Psalm 140:2.
2. Meditate on its name, preferably during its regency period (July 31 – August 4).
3. State an intention related to its domains: teaching, dissemination of knowledge, justice, enlightenment, intellectual courage.
