Seheiah draws its name from the Hebrew root שהי (shin-hé-yod), rendered in the French kabbalistic tradition — notably by Ambelain in 'La Kabbale pratique' — as 'God who heals all ills.' It is the 28th of the 72 divine names extracted from three Hebrew verses of Exodus 14:19-21, each verse containing exactly 72 letters; these 72 names constitute the Shem HaMephorash, the Unfolded or Explicit Name. Seheiah belongs to the seventh angelic choir according to the Dionysian hierarchy as reinterpreted by Christian Kabbalah: the Dominions, governed by the archangel Tsadkiel. This choir administers measure, distributive justice and the duration of beings. Within it, Seheiah supervises vitality, ensuring that the breath of life is not prematurely severed.

The virtues traditionally attributed to this angel are physical preservation, longevity and protection against accidents, falls and sudden illness. Practical kabbalistic treatises indicate that he fosters natural prudence, calm in adversity and a heightened instinct of self-preservation. He is also linked to the ability to sense danger before it manifests — a bodily intelligence that steers away from risk. His domain extends to convalescence, slow but deep healing and support for those weakened in health.

To meditate on Seheiah is to acknowledge that the body is a temple whose duration depends as much on inner attentiveness as on outward care. His leonine fire is not that of conquest but of the steady ember, maintaining vital warmth without burning itself out. By focusing awareness on this name, the tradition invites the practitioner to lay down the arms of agitation, to inhabit the physical present with gentleness, and to entrust the thread of time to a wider wisdom — that of the Dominions who, according to Kabbalah, regulate durations according to divine justice.
