Vehuiah opens the cycle of the 72 divine names drawn from three Hebrew verses in Exodus 14:19-21, each containing exactly seventy-two letters. By weaving these verses in alternating directions — first verse left to right, second right to left, third left to right — Kabbalistic tradition extracted 72 divine trigrams to which the suffixes El or Iah were added, forming the names of the 72 angels. Vehuiah stands first among them, belonging to the choir of Seraphim, the order closest to the divine throne, under the guidance of the great archangel Metatron, Prince of the Face and celestial scribe. He reigns over the first five degrees of Aries, the zodiacal territory of ardor and absolute beginning.

In the Christian Kabbalistic tradition as transmitted by Robert Ambelain and Haziel, Vehuiah carries the virtues of sovereign will, inner strength, and resolute action in the face of adversity. He supports those who undertake great works by instilling the boldness needed to overcome initial resistance and inertia. He is associated with healing febrile illnesses, mental clarity in urgent situations, and the capacity to lead with righteousness. Those who invoke him develop quiet perseverance and a sharp sense of timely initiative. His psalm verse — "But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the one who lifts my head high" — reveals something essential about the angel: a power that stands between the self and what threatens to overwhelm it.

Symbolically, Vehuiah embodies the first breath of the manifested world — that primordial impulse by which void becomes form. To meditate upon his name is to touch the zero-instant of all creation: that point of pure potentiality from which free action springs. In a contemplative register, he invites the distinction between authentic will — rooted in deep being — and the restless surface agitations of ego. His light is that of the sun at its rising: not yet blinding, yet already whole in its promise of a full day ahead.

How to pray to Vehuiah according to tradition

1. Recite its invocation verse, Psalm 3:4.
2. Meditate on its name, preferably during its regency period (March 21 – 25).
3. State an intention related to its domains: will, new beginnings, boldness, leadership, healing.
