Umabel

Umabel is the sixty-first angel of the Shem HaMephorash, that sacred Name of seventy-two letters derived from the three verses of Exodus (14:19–21). He marks an essential zodiacal transition in the chain of the seventy-two: the first angel of Aquarius after six Capricorn angels, he passes from the Earth element to the Air element, from the world of matter patiently constructed stone by stone to that of ideas freely shared and human bonds freely formed. Still in the choir of Archangels under the governance of Michael, he brings to that choir a resolutely fraternal and universalist dimension — a breath of openness after the concentrated depth of Capricorn.

Ambelain describes him as the angel who 'facilitates lasting friendships' and who 'heightens sensitivity to universal correspondences.' He is particularly linked to the sciences of the sky — astronomy, traditional astrology — and to all disciplines that seek to grasp the invisible fabric of relationships connecting phenomena that appear separate to the untrained eye. Physics, as a quest for the universal laws governing reality, is also attributed to him by certain kabbalists. He is the ally of those who struggle to form sincere and lasting bonds, who feel isolated in their particular sensitivity, or who are misunderstood in their wider vision of the world and its hidden order.

To meditate with Umabel is to open oneself genuinely to the awareness of the living network that connects all beings. Every human being is a node in an infinite web of relationships, every true friendship a thread of light stretched between two consciousnesses that recognize each other across the noise of the world.
