Mitzrael
“God who consoles the oppressed”

In short
Who is the angel Mitzrael?
Mitzrael is the 60th angel of the Shem HaMephorash, in the choir of Archangels under Michael. Regent of 25° to 30° Capricorn (January 14–18), he presides over the healing of mental disorders, the repair of relationships broken by injustice, and faithfulness toward legitimate authority. The kabbalistic tradition makes him a great mender of inner disorders, protector of the persecuted innocent, and restorer of peace in wounded hierarchies.
✡ Tradition and symbolism
Mitzrael is the sixtieth angel of the Shem HaMephorash, the last of the Capricorn angels in the hierarchy of the seventy-two divine names drawn from Exodus (14:19–21). This quality of 'closing' a zodiacal sign gives him in tradition a tone of synthesis and completion: he carries within himself something of the full depth of all six Capricorn angels combined, like a final chord that resolves the tensions accumulated across a movement. A member of the choir of Archangels under Michael, he shares with that choir its fundamental vocation to protect the vulnerable and to restore just order where it has been broken by the misuse of power.
His name — 'God who consoles the oppressed' — speaks clearly about his primary mission. Ambelain and Haziel present him as the angel who heals illnesses of the mind, particularly those born from long-suffered injustice: the chronic distrust that settles after betrayal by a trusted superior, the profound discouragement that follows unjust persecution, the exhausting temptation of sterile revolt that consumes energy without building anything new. He is the privileged ally of innocents persecuted by those set above them — tyrannical family figures, abusive employers, or authority figures who have perverted their legitimate role. He helps the discernment to distinguish clearly when obedience is a virtue that nourishes and when it has slid into complicity that destroys.
His meditative light is that of inner justice rediscovered from within. The Earth element of Capricorn gives him the solidity of bedrock: Mitzrael does not promise miraculous transformation of external circumstances, but rather renders the soul unshakeable in the face of them and capable of acting justly despite them. He is the companion of patient reconstruction for those broken by corrupt hierarchy, who must slowly rebuild their capacity to trust authority without falling again into either blind submission or the revolt that destroys as much as it opposes.
📜 Traditional invocation verse
Tradition associates Mitzrael with Psalm 145:14, recited or meditated upon during invocation.
Meditation
Mitzrael, consoler of souls wounded by injustice, restore to me the solidity of rock. May the peace you carry heal within me what betrayal has broken.
