Harahel
“God who knows all things”

In short
Who is the angel Harahel?
Harahel is the 59th angel of the Shem HaMephorash, in the choir of Archangels under Michael. Regent of 20° to 25° Capricorn (January 9–13), he presides over intelligence, the universal library of knowledge, and the fruitfulness of ideas. He is the angel of archivists, researchers, publishers, and all who work to transmit human knowledge. Tradition also attributes to him a favorable influence over fertility and wealth.
✡ Tradition and symbolism
Harahel is the fifty-ninth angel of the Shem HaMephorash, drawn from the three verses of Exodus (14:19–21) according to the method of the seventy-two divine names. A member of the choir of Archangels under the governance of Michael, he brings to this primarily protective and martial choir an intellectual and bibliophilic dimension that few of his companions share to the same degree. His name — 'God who knows all things' — immediately orients us toward divine omniscience not as an impossible ideal, but as the living model that calls all human knowledge toward greater depth, precision, and humility.
The Christian kabbalistic tradition associates him with intellectual wealth and 'wisdom in all matters.' Ambelain links him explicitly to libraries, archives, printing houses, and educational institutions of every kind. He fosters inventions and the spirit of discovery, and particularly the rare and precious capacity to synthesize disparate knowledge drawn from many fields into a coherent whole that illuminates where scattered details left one in the dark. The fruitfulness attributed to him is characteristically double: the fruitfulness of ideas — the generation of lasting works, living doctrines, meaningful syntheses — and, in certain traditions, biological fertility for households that seek to establish themselves in stability and duration.
In contemplation, Harahel represents the archetype of knowledge placed resolutely in service of life rather than of personal prestige. His Earth element of Capricorn reminds us that knowledge only carries genuine value when it is rooted in experience, embodied in practice, and transmitted to hands other than one's own. He invites the meditant to consider not only what they know, but what they actually do with what they know: knowledge accumulated in isolation without sharing is a magnificent library whose doors remain perpetually locked. Harahel breathes on the pages, turns them deliberately, opens the windows so that the living air of the outside world can enter the halls of learning.
📜 Traditional invocation verse
Tradition associates Harahel with Psalm 112:3, recited or meditated upon during invocation.
Meditation
Harahel, guardian of universal memory, illuminate the intelligence I carry within. May the knowledge I receive become light for hands other than my own.
