The Sephiroth: The Ten Divine Spheres
# The Sephiroth: The Ten Divine Spheres
The Sephiroth (singular: Sephirah) are the ten divine emanations that form the structure of the universe according to Kabbalah. Each sphere represents a particular aspect of divinity and creation.
## Upper Sephiroth: The Supernal Triangle
**Kether (The Crown)** — The initial point where infinite divinity begins to take form. It is absolute, indivisible unity, from which all things emanate.
**Chokmah (Wisdom)** — The masculine creative impulse, the first movement of creation. It is the divine seed, the original thrust.
**Binah (Understanding)** — The feminine creative intelligence that receives and gives form to the wisdom of Chokmah. It is the universal matrix.
## Intermediate Sephiroth: The Ethical Triangle
**Chesed (Mercy)** — Divine compassion, boundless generosity, the expansion of love.
**Geburah (Severity)** — Divine justice, discipline, purification through creative destruction.
**Tiphareth (Beauty)** — The heart of the Tree, perfect balance. It is the point of individual divine consciousness.
## Lower Sephiroth: The Astral Triangle
**Netzach (Eternity)** — Emotion, art, passion, victory. It is the realm of desire and will.
**Hod (Glory)** — Intellect, reason, communication, and magic. It is the domain of rational mind.
**Yesod (Foundation)** — The unconscious, dreams, imagination. It is the bridge between the divine and the material.
**Malkuth (The Kingdom)** — The manifested physical world. It is the final point of creation, complete incarnation.
## The Dynamic of the Sephiroth
The Sephiroth are not static but form a dynamic system in which divine energy descends from above (Kether) to below (Malkuth), then ascends again through the Paths of spiritual development. This is the eternal cycle of manifestation and illumination.
