The dramatic image of the judgment — treading on the tiger's tail, yet the tiger does not bite — captures the hexagram's essential quality: to proceed with appropriate boldness in a situation that contains real danger, protected not by strength but by correct conduct, genuine courtesy, and inward clarity.
