Human Design

64 Gates: the bridge between the I Ching, the Kabbalah, the chakras and your unique mechanics. Discover the energy of every gate in your bodygraph.

In short

What are the gates in Human Design?

Human Design (Ra Uru Hu) synthesizes the I Ching, the Kabbalah, the chakras and quantum mechanics into a self-knowledge system. Its 64 gates correspond to the 64 I Ching hexagrams: each planet at your birth activates one or more gates in your bodygraph. A defined gate expresses a consistent energy; an open gate is a place of conditioning and learning.

Frequently asked questions

What are the gates in Human Design?+

In Human Design, the 64 gates correspond to the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching. Each planet in your natal chart activates one or more gates in your bodygraph. A defined (colored) gate indicates a consistent, reliable energy; an open gate is conditioned by others.

What is the difference between a defined and an open gate?+

A defined gate means that frequency is stable and constant within you. An open gate, not colored in your chart, is a place of learning and conditioning: you can amplify others' energy there, but you may also be vulnerable to it.

What is the difference between Human Design gates and Gene Keys?+

The 64 HD gates and the 64 Gene Keys share the same wheel rooted in the I Ching. Human Design is a mechanical system (centers, channels, types, authority); Gene Keys are a contemplative path focused on the Shadow → Gift → Siddhi spectrum.

How do you read your bodygraph using gates?+

In your bodygraph, defined gates form channels when they connect two centers. A complete channel activates both centers it bridges. Gates activated by your conscious planet (black column) reflect your personality; those by your design planet (red column) are more unconscious traits.
