Kyanite is unusual in the mineral world for two reasons: it has different hardness along different axes of the crystal (4.5 across the blade, 7.0 along it), and it never accumulates negative energy — meaning it never requires cleansing, only occasional recharging in sunlight. Its name comes from the Greek kyanos, blue.
